This page is maintained by FR-ANK APP Ltd. to explain, in plain English, what FR-ANK collects, why, and what you can do about it. FR-ANK APP Ltd. is the data controller for the personal data described below.

What we collect

  • Account basics. Your name, email address, phone number and a securely stored password, so we know who you are and can sign you in.
  • Trusted contact details. The names and phone numbers of the people you nominate, so we can text them if you miss a check-in.
  • Check-in activity. When your check-ins are scheduled and whether you responded, so the app can do its job and show you your history.
  • Analytics and crash reports. Anonymous, aggregated usage and crash data so we can fix what's broken and improve the app.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

A note about your trusted contacts

When you add a trusted contact, you're giving us their phone number so FR-ANK can message them on your behalf. Please only add people who know they've been added and are happy to hear from us. Contacts can ask to be removed at any time by replying to a message or emailing us, and you can remove them yourself in the app.

Why we're allowed to use it

We process account, contact and check-in data because it is necessary to provide the service you signed up for (performance of a contract). We process analytics and crash data on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app working, and where required we ask for your consent in the app.

Who else processes your data

We use a small number of third-party providers to run FR-ANK. They only process data on our instructions:

  • Twilio — sends the SMS messages to your trusted contacts.
  • Firebase (Google) — push notifications, app infrastructure, analytics and crash reporting.
  • Apple — App Store distribution and subscription payments. We never see or store your card details.

Some of these providers operate outside the UK. Where data is transferred abroad, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Notifications and permissions

FR-ANK needs notification permission to remind you to check in. With your permission, reminders can override Do Not Disturb and silent mode. You grant that permission yourself, and you can withdraw it at any time in your device settings or in the app.

Keeping it safe

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to the people who need it, and we review our providers' security practices. No system is perfect, so we also keep what we collect to a minimum.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted immediately, including your trusted contacts and your check-in history. Residual copies may persist briefly in routine backups before they roll off, and we may retain anonymised analytics that can no longer identify you.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to processing. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office. To make a request, email charles@fr-ank.app. We'll respond within one month.

Children

FR-ANK is not intended for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email. Questions of any kind go to charles@fr-ank.app.
